JEFF PILSON: 'I Haven't Spoken With DON DOKKEN In At Least Two Years'
January 17, 2006Former DOKKEN/DIO and current FOREIGNER bassist Jeff Pilson recently spoke to Jeff Fishman as part of his annual "State of the Union" interview, which is published on Pilson's official web site. An excerpt from the chat follows:
Q: So what is next on the agenda for Foreigner?
Jeff: "A lot of touring. And you may have heard that we are also doing a live record."
Q: Um, no I haven't heard about that.
Jeff: "Well, we recorded some shows in Las Vegas in late November and Mick Jones has asked me to produce the live record and that is real exciting for me. In addition, we are remaking/re-recording a lot of the classic FOREIGNER songs for use in movies and commercials. We have already record several of them, but we have a few more to go. And these will sound close enough to the originals that if a producer wanted to use 'Hot Blooded' in a movie it will be so close to the original that they would be just as happy with this version as the original. And Mick is coming out to my studio soon so that we can continue working on these recording."
Q: And you mentioned a lot of touring, what's on the horizon?
Jeff: "Well, in February we will be touring in the States, in March we go to South America and Mexico, May we head to Australia, and in June we head to Europe, then back to the states for the remainder of the summer and fall. And there is talk of us doing a new record with new music in the near future as well. I doubt that will happen in 2006, but I am sure we will be writing heavily in 2006. And we are planning to record a live DVD in New Jersey next November. I forget the name of the venue, but we played there last year and the theater is well equipped for live recording, so it seems like the perfect place to record one at."
Q: Have you talked with Don [Dokken] at all? How about Mick [Brown]?
Jeff: "I saw Mick a little over a year ago and we chatted and that was fine. But I haven't spoken with Don in at least 2 years. I do see and talk to George [Lynch] quite often, in fact we just talked today. And funny as it is, but as you know I just moved, and the gym that George belongs to is almost directly across from where I live."
